Jazz Cake’s T-Shirt 100 Project Exhibition

The JazzCakes100:T-shirts project is the first in a series of projects invisioned by JazzCakes to illuminate each facet of the arts arena. The opening of this exhibition is being held in tandem with a Studio B open studio exhibition. 1800-2300, 10th April, 2010, Studio B, 24 Tudor Lane, Riverside, Cardiff. You can check out all 100 T-Shirts Exhibited at:

The brief explained that the 100 artists participating were each to design and produce a t-shirt based upon the number designated to them. The work could be made of any medium that would apply itself to to the fabric of a t-shirt and the artists could be as creative, imaginative and inventive as they liked. (The designated number didn’t have to be included in the design). Out of the 100 numbers alloted, I was given the Number 71. I decided to produce and print my images directly onto Iron on transfers which gave a low-fi, ‘punk rock’ aesthetic to the t-shirt. In keeping with the themes that interest me, I started to research through printed articles and the web, looking for any links or references to the Orwellian State, CCTV and the number 71.

I stumbled upon an article on a BBC News page highlighting the results of a survey undertaken in an area of the UK which revealed that 71% of  the area’s residents were in total favour of having more CCTV cameras installed.  Most are seemingly unaware that Britain alone has over 4.5million CCTV cameras which capture the average person around 300 times a day. A 71% majority in favour of more surveillance must be good news to those who can see their totalitarian agenda fitting firmly into place. The Orwellian state is here and our rights to privacy along with our other civil liberties are all at stake. Earlier, in January this year, plans to administer a new species of surveillance camera that could also record sound and private conversations were outlawed. But, it won’t be long before the legislation is passed  to approve the usage of such cameras and other technologies waiting in the wings.

My T-shirt designs and patterns incorporate fragments of identities of a number of puppet politicians, the Anglo-American Elite, those who own the media, those who form and represent the Trilateral Commission, the Bilderberg Group, the Skull and Bones Men and the Ivy League. All are seeking a New World Order – One Bank, One Government,  One Army and a subservient population of microchipped civilians. Each fragment forms together to reveal sinister new identities aswell as a hypnotic vortex that signifies how the mass (through the global media),  can be indoctrinated and conditioned to accept  the ‘official’ version of events by a demonic cabal that governs the powers that be.
